May Chapter Meeting @ Harvill’s Produce
Welcome to Summer! Our last monthly chapter meeting before the summer break is coming up soon and you won’t want to miss this one.
Date: Monday, May 1st
Time: 6:30 – 8:30 pm
Location: Harvill’s Produce
Address: 8775 South Orange Avenue, Orlando, FL 32824
This month’s general meeting with feature educational presentations and demos from three fantastic local companies: Harvill’s Produce, Bar Harbor Seafood, and So Fruity. As the host for this meeting, Harvill’s will include a tour of their shop and facility. The tour will be in refrigerated areas, so dress accordingly. Enter through the store front, which will be open until 7:00 pm.
For those of you needing your Continuing Education Hours, this meeting will earn you 1 CEH. Certificates will be available at the meeting.
At the May meeting, we have a lot of fantastic raffle prizes. But this month we will be selling raffle tickets for these prizes in order to raise money for a very special YMCA program. (See below for a message about the raffle proceeds.)
Also included in the program: new member induction ceremony, announcements, networking, and plenty of food to taste. Guests are welcome!
All proceeds of the raffle ticket sales at the May meeting will benefit the YMCA’s Healthy Weight and Your Child Program. Together with our members, volunteers and our friends and partners throughout the community, we make Dr. Phillips YMCA stronger by addressing community needs and ensure that all are welcome and that no one is turned away for an inability to pay for programs or membership.
The YMCA strengthens communities through Healthy Living, Youth Development, and Social Responsibility. As Culinarians, we know the importance of healthy living. More than a quarter of all Floridians are obese, including more than 1 in 10 children. The YMCA has responded with the Healthy Weight and Your Child Program that helped children age 7-13 and their families learn to make healthy food choices. The goal is to support an entire class of the YMCA’s Healthy Weight and Your Child program, giving both children and their parents the knowledge and confidence to fight childhood obesity and improve the overall health of their family.
