The Passing of Henri Landwirth, Founder of Give Kids The World

Hello Chefs & Culinarians,

The ACF Central Florida Chapter is sad to announce that Henri Landwirth, the founder of Give Kids The World in Kissimmee, FL has passed away.

Mr. Landwirth was a true visionary and compassionate philanthropist. In a time when no such place existed, he transformed his first motel into a getaway for seriously ill children and their families to enjoy what might be their last vacation together. Mr. Landwirth financed the travel, lodging and other expenses, so that the children could just have some fun and make memories. It did not take long for his generosity to get noticed, and what evolved was a village built for children.

Mr. Landwirth was so excited about what might come of this project, that it did not take long for him to involve our Chefs Association with a simple statement: “Wouldn’t it be nice if we could have a Christmas Party for the families”. That was all it took, and 25 years later we are still doing that party. Mr. Landwirth was so excited about the party, that he was there every year, personally thanking everyone who volunteered.

He was a true gentlemen. His love for the children and their families was evident in his demeanor. Mr. Landwirth will be missed by all.

A celebration of Henri Landwirth’s life will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. on April 28th at the Give Kids the World Village.

May he Rest in Peace.
