Greetings Chefs, Culinarians, and Colleagues:
The summer season is here. It’s time to bring out the grill for cook-outs with family and friends and to have some fun
in the sun. Don’t forget to lather up with sunscreen while you’re out.
I would like to give a warm welcome to our new members: Kurtis Lee Baguley, Steve Fafoutis, Eric Cleveland, Angel Buckland, Geoffrey K. Harris, Kelly M. Rapp, and Cheryl D. Smith.
Chefs, cooks, and bakers, the ACF Central Florida Chapter will be holding the next practical exam required for certification on Sunday, August 28th at TECO (Technical Education Center of Osceola) 501 Simpson Road, Kissimmee, FL 34744-4459. All interested candidates must contact Chef Russell Scott, WGMC at email@example.com by 5pm on August 8th to reserve a space. Chef Scott will provide all details that must be done prior to taking the practical.
The practical exam is open to all interested candidates. You do not have to be an ACF member. Candidates must submit completed application to ACF headquarters in Saint Augustine, FL along with ACF fee payment. Candidates must bring all their food products. Ingredients can be premeasured but not premixed.
Attention all Professional Culinarian members: if you are interested in becoming a mentor for the Junior and Student members, please reply to me at firstname.lastname@example.org with your contact information and area of expertise.
Our website is in a process of being redesigned. I have seen snippets of the new website and so far it’s looking great! I’m very excited to see the finished product.
The FRLA Show Culinary Competition information is now available on the www.acfchefs.org website. If you are planning to enter the Culinary Cup Challenge, send in application and fees to Chef Steve Jayson to secure a spot. There are only 9 spots available.
The National office would like to share that a new CEPC Written Exam will be implemented on August 1, 2011. Everyone taking the CEPC Written Exam on or after August 1 will take the new version of the CEPC exam. Chefs planning on taking the CEPC exam prior to Aug. 1 should make use of the current practice exams if interested. New practice exams are available for chefs planning to take the exam on or after August 1.
We are planning a joint event with NACE (National Association of Catering Executives) in July. The event will be a team building event helping the sales/catering people communicate to the Chefs. This ground breaking event will be the first time in 20 years the two local associations have worked together. Please stay tuned for details. We will email the details once it has been finalized.
